Hear me out on this: instead of a seasonal capsule wardrobe that is worn for an entire season of the year and not changed until the season changes, what if we do a smaller monthly capsule wardrobe instead that changes at the beginning of each month?

What is a capsule wardrobe?

Generally, a seasonal capsule wardrobe is a curated collection of sectional clothing items that are selected to be worn during an entire season.  The idea is to have a limited number of versatile and high-quality pieces that can be mixed and matched to create a wide variety of outfits.  The capsule stays the same until the season changes.

But what about a *monthly* capsule wardrobe?

Because I get bored with seasonal capsule wardrobes, I have decided to give a monthly capsule wardrobe a try.  The idea is to combat style boredom by changing the capsule wardrobe each month.

How does a monthly capsule wardrobe work?

Overall, the goal of a monthly capsule wardrobe is to simplify your closet, reduce decision fatigue (“What do I wear today?”), and focus on quality over quantity.  Here is how it works:

·      Start by identifying which of the pieces (or similar pieces) that you already and group those items together in your closet.

·      Supplement with additional pieces as needed.

·      Then for one month only, pull from these pieces to create your outfits for the month of April.

·      Expand upon the core capsule wardrobe pieces as you see fit.  (More on this in the next post.)

·      And when May arrives, I will introduce an ALL NEW capsule wardrobe for the month.

By rotating our capsule wardrobe each month, I think we can keep our wardrobe fresh and exciting while still maintaining a simplified and intentional approach to our personal style.  Let’s all try it and see how it goes!

I am barely 5’1 with a 26” inseam and generally wear size 4P. All items fit TTS (true to size) unless otherwise stated.
