I recently implemented a fashion spending rule: if I can think of at least 5 ways to style a new item with existing items in my closet, then I can buy it. But if not, I have to put it back. This cuts down on impulse purchases that just hang in my closet unworn and money wasted. But with this striped tee, I was able to think of MORE than 5 ways to style it. Actually, I was able to style EIGHT outfits from the striped tee…all from items already in my closet. All of these outfits are appropriate for women over 40, women over 50, and women over 60.

April Capsule Wardrobe for Midlife Women
Hear me out on this: instead of a seasonal capsule wardrobe that is worn for an entire season of the year and not changed until the season changes, what if we do a smaller monthly capsule wardrobe instead that changes at the beginning of each month?
By rotating our capsule wardrobe each month, I think we can keep our wardrobe fresh and exciting while still maintaining a simplified and intentional approach to our personal style. Let’s all try it and see how it goes!

5 Ways to Style It: Black Wrinkle Free Travel Dress
🖤 I recently instituted a rule that I must be able to think of five ways to style a new item – with items that are already hanging in my closet – before I can buy it. But if I can’t think of five ways to style it, then I have to put it back. This helps with impulse buying and ensure that I will actually get some wear (and my money’s worth) out of my purchase.
