We all know this song, right? Well, this one simple verse inspired me to change my gifting strategy this holiday season. Instead of excessive spending and consumerism (simply because I knew I needed to buy a gift), I decided to breakaway and give “thoughtful gift boxes” instead.
Gifting co-workers and colleagues can get tricky…and sometimes feel downright weird. But here is a thoughtful gift box acceptable to give almost all co-workers and colleagues. It consists of a an elegant moleskin notebook, pretty writing pen, and a small bag of holiday chocolates contained in a reusable gift box.

What is a thoughtful gift box?
Inspired by the famous Julie Andrews song from The Sound of Music, a thoughtful gift box is a sustainable gift-giving idea: a reusable brown gift box tied up with ribbon and filled with a few of the recipient’s favorite things. This thoughtful promotes sustainability and reducing waste. Most importantly, it shows the recipient that you cared enough to put some thought into their likes, wants, and needs.
Who can I gift a thoughtful gift box?
Today, I am showing an example of a thoughtful gift box for our favorite little video gamers. (My gamer isn’t so little anymore but he thoroughly approved of this gaming gift box idea.). Last week, I showed a gift box for a co-worker.
All our favorite little gamers really want is a gift card for their favorite game or gaming console. I gave mine gamer exactly what he wanted…but sweetened the deal with a chocolate game controller and a commemorative Christmas ornament.

How do I make a thoughtful gift box?

As I was inspired by the verse from the song “My Favorite Things”, I chose a brown reusable box with a lid, filled it with a few of the recipients favorite things…and tied it up with string.
