Hi Beautiful!
When we talk about switching to a neutral wardrobe to achieve classic and effortless style, one of the most frequent questions I hear is this: how do I tell if I am a warm neutral or cool neutral skin tone?
Read on if you are a woman over 40, woman over 50, woman over 60, woman over 70, AND woman over 80…I didn’t forget you ladies!
There are a few ways a midlife woman can determine if her skin is suited for cool neutrals, warm neutrals, or both:
1. Vein Test: Look at the veins on the inside of your wrist in natural light. If they appear blue or purple, you likely have cool undertones. If you have cool undertones, choose cooler neutrals like taupe, dove grey, or soft blues. If they appear green, you likely have warm undertones. If you have warm undertones, go for earthy tones like beige, camel, or warm greys. If they appear to be a mix of both, you may have neutral undertones.

2. Jewelry Test: Pay attention to whether silver or gold jewelry looks better on your skin. If silver looks best, you likely have cool undertones. If gold looks best, you likely have warm undertones. If both look good on you, you may have neutral undertones.
3. Clothing Test: Try on clothing in different colors and see which ones make your skin look more vibrant. If cool tones like blues, purples, and pinks look best, you likely have cool undertones. If warm tones like reds, oranges, and yellows look best, you likely have warm undertones. If both cool and warm tones look good on you, you may have neutral undertones.
4. Consult a Professional: If you’re still unsure, consider consulting with a makeup artist or stylist who specializes in color analysis. They can help determine your undertones and recommend the best colors for your skin tone.
Keep scrolling, as I am showing you examples of both cool, neutrals, and warm neutrals below. And let me hear from you in the comments: are you cool neutral, warm neutral, or both?
