One of the more frequent questions I receive is “Where do YOU get your fashion inspiration?”

For me, I find that the Pinterest algorithm is the most in-tune to my fashion sense and makes the best suggestions.  (I also find the Pinterest app to be THE MOST addicting of all social media apps for this reason.)

With this in mind, today I am showing you five outfits inspired by Pinterest, all of which involve a white with black stripe lady coat cardigan…and all outfits are suitable for women over 40, women over 50, and women over 60.

What is a lady coat?
Reminiscent of Chanel-style, a lady coat is a blazer or jacket with a boxy feel that is usually straight hem, collared, and single-breasted. A lady coat cardigan is made in the style of a lady coat but not as structured, usually knit, and a little more relaxed.

I was not able to identify the model on the right so please let me know if you recognize her so I can giver her credit here. I love how she dressed down the elegant lady coat cardigan with casual jeans…and the elevated the outfit back up with a pair of black toe heels. European street style!

This Pinterest-Inspired outfit is from Olivia Miller on the right. She went with a simply white base (white tank and white pants). But them she added interest by adding the cognac brown color in the handbag…brilliant. This is a great look, lighter look for late Spring and Summer.

The look in the right is also inspired by Lynsey Morrison. While she paired the striped lady coat cardigan with wide leg trousers, I paired them with black ankle pants. For the record, I *love* wide leg trousers, but I split the difference with the ladies that complain about wide leg trousers and styled ankle pants just for you.

The outfit on the right is from Caroline at My Chic Obsession. While she styled the outfit with khaki wide leg trousers, I went with a light beige for Spring and Summer. European style, classic style and simple chic at its finest!

A WORD ABOUT WIDE LEG PANTS…Ladies, I don’t expect you to like every outfit I post. But I hear the most complaints about wide leg trousers.  If they aren’t for you, that’s totally fine – don’t wear them. But your complaints will not change *my* style.  I love them and find them incredibly chic.  I’m barely 5’1 and wear them well. To each her own! 😉
