Hello Beautiful!

In the midlife years, many of us get a little extra around the midsection…none of us asked for it but we still have to deal with it. Whether you call it menopause belly or menopause tummy, the middle area can be difficult to style with clothing.

But let me be clear: you do NOT have to tuck your shirt to be stylish. Tucking shirts in the midsection creates bulk, is time consuming, and sometimes downright uncomfortable. (I mean, does anyone really *like* retucking their shirt every time they go to the bathroom?!)

As we enter into the spring season of 2024, it’s time to revamp our wardrobes and embrace new styles that flatter our midlife midsections. This year, we’re focusing on four key pieces that will help you style your midsection with confidence and flair: the peplum blouse, the poets blouse, the gathering hack at the hip, and the tie waist blouse.

Make sure to watch the YouTube video for some SPECIAL HACKS to wear your shirt untucked and to accommodate the midlife belly / menopause tummy / menopause belly!

1. Peplum Blouse

First up, the peplum blouse. This feminine and flattering style features a flared ruffle at the waist, which helps to define and accentuate your midsection. Pair a peplum blouse with high-waisted jeans or trousers for a chic and polished look. Choose a peplum blouse in a bold floral print or a bright solid color for a pop of springtime freshness.

2. Poet’s Blouse

Next, the poets blouse. This romantic and flowy style is perfect for midlife women who want to add a touch of bohemian flair to their wardrobe. The poets blouse typically features a loose fit and billowy sleeves, which can help to camouflage any problem areas around the midsection. Pair a poets blouse with skinny jeans or a pencil skirt for a balanced and stylish outfit.

3. Gathering HACK

For a more edgy and modern look, try the gathering hack at the hip. This style involves strategically placed gathers or ruching at the hip area, which can create the illusion of a slimmer waistline. You can use either a rubber band or this little plastic disc from Amazon to gather the fabric at your hip area. Look for tops or dresses with gathering details at the hips to draw the eye away from the midsection and create a more streamlined silhouette. Pair a gathering hack top with wide-leg pants or a fitted skirt for a fashion-forward ensemble.

4. Tie Waist Blouse

Finally, the tie waist blouse is a versatile and flattering option for midlife women looking to accentuate their midsection. The tie waist detail allows you to cinch in your waist and create a more defined silhouette. Choose a tie waist blouse in a lightweight fabric like chiffon or silk for a breezy and effortless spring look. Pair a tie waist blouse with tailored trousers or a midi skirt for a sophisticated and chic outfit.

Summing It Up

Overall, styling your midsection for spring fashion in 2024 is all about embracing your body and choosing pieces that make you feel confident and beautiful. Whether you opt for a peplum blouse, a poets blouse, a gathering hack at the hip, or a tie waist blouse, remember to have fun with your wardrobe and experiment with different styles and silhouettes. Embrace your midlife midsection with style and grace this season!
