Our children are 32, 31, 27…and 11. Yup, you read that right: 22 years from our youngest to our oldest. One big modern family.
Many moons ago, I met a handsome man from Michigan with three beautiful little girls. When our own little surprise arrived (I turned 36 the next day), we agreed that we would never refer to the daughters as “David’s kids”…but rather we would refer to all four as “OUR children.” That later turned into “OUR grandchildren” as we added 5 grandchildren to our modern family.
While most women my age are empty-nesters, I am grateful that I still have one at home. One that still cuddles with me on the couch while watching a movie (like he is doing right now as I type.) One who crawls into bed with me in the middle of the night while Dad is out of town. One who still gives me a “huggie” every morning. One who is starting to get a little bit of fur on his upper lip. One who will likely be taller than me by the end of the summer. (Aim high, kid. 🤣) I will miss every minute of these days when they are gone.
I don’t post photos of my son on the internet because I’ve had a stalker in the past. These photos are of me yesterday while I waited for him to get out of his summer science camp. I worked from a local library and enjoyed a fabulous lunch salad at a local wine bar…while my sweet boy built and launched his own rocket. 🚀 ❤️
