Day One at the YouTube Holiday House Creator Conference in Los Angeles
From peak fall foliage in Northern Michigan to palm trees in Southern California—I made it to the YouTube Holiday House Creator Conference in Los Angeles yesterday!
My travel day started at 2 a.m. My flight from Grand Rapids through Chicago O’Hare to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) was relatively uneventful. Thankfully, the best part of the day was waiting for me when I arrived: catching up with my favorite creator friends.
Leaving Northern Michigan During Peak Fall Leaves
If you’ve been following my autumn updates, you know how much I love this season in Northern Michigan. We are at peak fall color. My world at home is absolutely magical.
One windy day can carry those beautiful leaves away. So leaving—even for a short trip—was hard.
But spending time with friends I only see twice a year made arriving in Los Angeles feel pretty wonderful. Twice a year is never enough!

So much of our work as content creators happens on our own. It feels special to spend time with women who understand this creative life—and to catch up beyond a comment or a message.
We spent the day chatting and enjoying the Southern California breeze by the pool. Quite a different October scene from the colorful leaves back home!
Travel Outfits and Packing With Only a Carry-On
