Women over 50 — summer is the season where frumpy can sneak up on you the fastest.
Not because your body changed.
Not because you “let yourself go.”
But because so many women start dressing to hide themselves instead of express themselves.
And that’s exactly what ages a look.
In this video, I’m breaking down 8 common summer fashion mistakes that instantly make outfits feel heavier, older, and more frumpy — from oversized shapeless clothing to bulky shoes, overpowering prints, and “comfort dressing” that quietly steals your presence.
But here’s the deeper truth:
Most summer style mistakes are not really about the clothes.
They’re about how you feel in your body.
Because when confidence disappears… intention usually disappears too.
And that’s why I always say:
✨ Wellness is the foundation.
✨ Style is the expression.
When you feel better physically, emotionally, and mentally, you naturally begin showing up differently. You stop dressing to disappear. You start dressing with purpose again.
The goal is never to look younger.
The goal is to look alive. Polished. Confident. Present.
Because midlife style should not be about shrinking yourself.
It should be about becoming visible again.
It Girl Energy,

I live in England and you absolutely inspire me to be a better me ..my problem is confidence and no matter what anyone says about how good I look I don’t believe them..I live in the shadow of a younger sister who is gorgeous goes to the gym and eats healthy and I’m now in my 60’s and still feel the same.
Alison, thank you so much for taking the time to write this. ❤️ It means more than you know that something I share has encouraged you.
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that confidence rarely appears before we start taking care of ourselves—it usually grows because we keep the promises we make to ourselves. Please don’t compare your chapter to your younger sister’s. Comparison has a way of stealing joy no matter how beautiful or accomplished we are.
Your 60s are not too late to become the strongest, healthiest, or most elegant version of yourself. Start with one small habit today—whether that’s a nourishing meal, a short walk, or wearing an outfit that makes you feel good. Those small choices build confidence from the inside out.
Remember my favorite saying: Wellness is the foundation. Style is the expression. I have a feeling there’s a much more confident woman already inside you than you realize. 🤍
